October 26, 2003am   Basic Training.    John 5

By Ronald E. George Jr. at the Fayetteville Baptist Church

Basic Training: Signing Up…  Have you signed up with the Lord?

Have you heard the call?

Have you listened to His voice?

Have you given him your life (believed in Him)?

Have you considered the benefits?

Have you become a member of the body of Christ?  Have you received Salvation?

Scripture Text:  John 5:24  Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.

I.  What is Salvation?  Salvation is Jesus.

    II.  Who Needs Salvation?

Romans 3:23 For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.

   III.  Sin Nature Inherited.

Romans 5:12   Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:

   IV.  Escape Route

Romans 6:23  For the wages of sin [is] death; but the gift of God [is] eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

    V.  Salvation is Only by God’s Love and Mercy

Romans 5:8  But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

VI.  Salvation is Wholly of God and is received as a Gift Through Faith

Ephesians 2:8  For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: [it is] the gift of God: 9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.

  VII.  A Present Possession

John 5:24  Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.

VIII.  Do you have Full Assurance of Faith?  Remember:  1Joh 5:13 These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.

Christ Gives Eternal or Everlasting Life

John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.

Have you given your life to Jesus?  He gave His life for you.  If you believe in Him by giving Him your life, you are being saved by Him for all of eternity.  Come to Jesus.
