What did you get for Christmas?

Handout By Ronald E. George Jr.

Got Jesus:  Mat. 1: 21 And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins. 22 Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying, 23 Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.

·        Jesus is what we got for Christmas.  Here is what He gives.

Got Hope: 1Pet 1:3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,

·        To have hope is to dream of the way things will be.  Because Jesus rose from the dead we who believe have eternal hope.

Got Peace:  Romans 5:1 Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:

·        To have peace is to know the presence of the Spirit of the only true living God.  He is here.  He is in you as a Christian.

Got Joy:  Luke 2:10 And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. 11 For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.

·        To know joy is to know the Savior who gives us happiness throughout our lives.

Got Love:  John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

·        To be loved is to be looked after, taken care of, tended to, nursed, supported, watched over, protected, provided for, and nurtured.  He loves us.
